3. Today Martin Learner is walking in the city looking for the Art Museum. He asks several people where the museum is located.

1. Simple directions can be given by Turn right, turn left, go straight ahead, go three blocks, or three streets. By pointing out landmarks such as tall buildings, churches, and monuments, and by using simple phrases, it is possible to ask for and give directions.

Basit yol tarifleri “Sağa dönün, sola dönün, dümdüz gidin, üç sokak(blok) geçin” diyerek verilebilir. Yüksek binalar, kiliseler ve anıtlar gibi önemli binaları da gösterebilir, basit kelimeler kullanarak yol tarifi verebileceğiniz gibi bir yere nasıl gidileceğini de sorabilirsiniz.

8. Think about your city or town. If you are standing in some prominent place in the town, in front of a big store for example, can you give directions? Can you answer these questions?

13. The most useful phrases for giving directions in English are [SAY IN ENGLISH] Straight ahead. [LOCAL LANGUAGE] which means go straight ahead. [SAY IN ENGLISH] Turn right. Turn left. [LOCAL LANGUAGE] which mean turn right or turn left. Another useful word is [SAY IN ENGLISH] "go" [LOCAL LANGUAGE] which means go in the direction of or to a specific place.

İngilizce’de tarif vermekte kullanılan en yararlı terimler STRAIGHT AHEAD/Dümdüz Gidin, TURN RIGHT/sağa dönün, TURN LEFT/sola dönün yapılarıdır. Bir başka yararlı kelime de “GO/gidin”dir, bir yöne veya belirli bir yere doğru gitmeniz gerektiğini belirtir.
