3. In today's lesson you will learn to express your likes and dislikes about music. Martin visits two musicians in their recording studio.

6. LUIS: Do you like rock music?

7. MARTIN: Yes, I do. I like all music. What do you like?

8. LAURI: Everything.

9. LUIS: No, she doesn't. She doesn't like opera.

10. MARTIN: Let's talk about music. First, let's talk about your music. Lauri, you're a singer.

11. LAURI: That's right. But I'm a musician too.

12. MARTIN: Do you play an instrument?

13. LAURI: Yes, I do.

14. LUIS: She plays several instruments very well.

15. MARTIN: What do you play, Lauri?

16. LAURI: I play the guitar. I play the piano, but not very well. I play the flute.

17. LUIS: She plays many flutes.

18. MARTIN: What do you mean?

19. LUIS: She can play wooden flues, bamboo flutes, classical flutes. Everything.

20. LAURI: I like the flute. I play folk music on the flute. Do you like folk music?

21. MARTIN: Yes, I do. Let's listen to some folk music.

23. LUIS: That's very nice.

24. LAURI: I like that.

25. LUIS: OK. You like folk music. You like the flute. You play the guitar. You play the piano. You sing. Do you like to sing?

26. LAURI: Oh, yes!

28. MARTIN: Of course. But you sing, Luis.

29. LUIS: Not very well. I like to sing. But I don't sing very well. Lauri sings very well.

30. LAURI: Thank you. That's nice.

31. LUIS: My mother is an opera singer. But I can't sing very well.

32. MARTIN: Does your mother like your music?

33. LUIS: No, she doesn't.

34. MARTIN: Do you like opera?

35. LUIS: Yes, I do.

36. MARTIN: You play the guitar. Can you play other instruments?

37. LUIS: Yes, I can. We need a guitar. I play the guitar very well. Lauri plays the guitar too.

38. LAURI: We both sing.

39. MARTIN: Do you like this music? Listen.

41. MARTIN: Do you like that music?

42. LUIS: I like it.

43. LAURI: I love it!

44. LUIS: Love it?

45. LAURI: Yes.

46. LUIS: It's OK.

47. MARTIN: One likes it. One loves it. Luis, do you play the keyboard?

48. LUIS: No, I don't.

49. MARTIN: Lauri, do you play the keyboard.

50. LAURI: I don't play it very well.

51. LUIS: Stacy plays the keyboard.

52. MARTIN: Stacy plays with your band.

53. LAURI: He's a wonderful musician.

54. MARTIN: Where is Stacy today?

55. LUIS: He's visiting his family.

56. MARTIN: Where is his home?

57. LAURI: He lives in Detroit.

59. We can express likes and dislikes by the English very [SAY IN ENGLISH] "like." Listen to these sentences.

12. MARTIN: I want to talk about your families. Luis, your mother is an opera singer. Where does she sing?

13. LUIS: South America. Central America. Mexico. She teaches singing too.

14. MARTIN: Where is she from?

15. LUIS: She's from Spain.

16. MARTIN: Where is your father from?

17. LUIS: He's from New York.

18. MARTIN: Is he a musician?

19. LUIS: No, but he loves music.

20. LAURI: His mother and father met at the opera.

21. MARTIN: That's interesting.

22. LUIS: My father loves music from Spain.

23. MARTIN: Does he like your music?

24. LUIS: No.

25. LAURI: He likes classical guitar.

48. LAURI: I studied in New York.

53. MARTIN: Lauri, did you and Luis meet in New York?

54. LAURI: Yes, we did. I studied there for three years. We met the second year. We married in New York.

56. LAURI: Yes, I do. I have two brothers.

57. MARTIN: Are they musicians?

58. LAURI: No, they aren't. They like music.

59. MARTIN: Do they like your music?

60. LAURI: They like it. They don't love it.
